Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, but he was raised in Dobbs Ferry, New York. He was very interested in computers at a very young age. When he was 12 years old he created a messaging program called “Zucknet.” He had a computer tutor name David Newman and he would come once a week. He would have his friends come over to his house and they would always go on the computer. “I had a bunch of friends who was artist, “he said. "They come over, draw stuff, and I’d build a game out of it.”
For high school he went to Phillips Exeter Academy. While in high school he continued to develop new programs. He created the early version of Pandora, but he called it Synapse. Many companies wanted to buy the program and they wanted to hire him before he graduated, but he didn’t accept the offer.
After graduating from Exeter in 2002, Zuckerburg went to Harvard University. In his sophomore year he and his friends were in his dorm room created the website called Facebook, but at this time he called it Facematch. Then in June 2004, after his sophomore year, he dropped out of Harvard and then he went to full time to Facebook. So to be able to work on Facebook fulltime, he had to move the company to Palo Alto, California. By the end of 2004, Facebook had 1 million users.
By December 2005, Facebook had more than 5.5 million users. Zuckerberg made a major life change in May 2012. The change is that Facebook had its public offering which raised $16 billion, making it the biggest Internet IPO in history.
